OK I've been through the manual and it says I can get unprintable ascii
characters using '\305' where 305 is the octal value of the character I
want, in this case the Swedish Angstrom symbol.
This just gives me \305 when I print it. Ideally I would like this in
postscript (Helvetica) but I'll settle for Hershey if it works.
I am running IDL 3.5.1 under HP-UX 9.03. The octal backslash used to work
for me but stopped (I think 3.1 - 3.5 did it).

Please repley via e-mail, Thanks, Thom
