I have been developing IDL applications on a dual-display system.
I choose the display on which I would like any windows to appear
before I start the IDL session:

% setenv DISPLAY :0.0 OR % setenv DISPLAY :0.1
% IDL

and all windows will appear on either display #1 or display #2.

I understand that many X resources are established (and subsequently
unchangeable) when the first window is opened. Is this also true with the
display number? I would like to open some windows on display #1, and
some on display #2, all within the same IDL session.
