I have two questions related to continental outlines:

1) Can the continents be filled-in with a color or pattern? How?

2) I want to contour an oceanic quantity around the continents. I'm aware of
/overplot, but I get false effects near the continental boundaries since there
is a "filler" value on the land locations. Is there a way to tell contour to ignore
the unwanted (land) points?

Thanks in advance for any pointers on this.

Would it help to set this filler value to something high, and then use the
MAX_VALUE keyword to tell CONTOUR to ignore them?

Thanks. That answers question #2 (don't know why I didn't see it before).
