[ I do hope this isn't a duplicate announcement, as I can't ]
[ remember whether I got as far as posting this already! ]

I wrote some routines which you put in your IDL path and then you can
write NetCDF files using fewer commands than would normally be required.

Basically, you set a string variable containing information of what
variables you want to write (using syntax explained in the documentation
file) and the program will then parse the string and write the file for
you.

I suspect it may require IDL 5.3.
