Hello all,

I am looking for some reference material or code examples (IDL and C)
which use the IDL call_external command. Are there any good books which
thoroughly discuss external C and IDL programming in detail? I'm not too
interested in programming graphics or widgets, just text-based I/O and
number crunching. I am reading through Ch. 7 of the IDL External
Development Guide, but I'm finding quite a few pitfalls.
