Hi Liam,

This isn't a very useful answer yet but I'm currently working on running
some SCALAPACK routines (parallelized version of some of the LAPACK
routines) on a parallel processing machine using an IDL interface. If
you have any interest I'll be happy to supply any code I generate that
actually works.

Well, I use CALL_EXTERNAL to call some fortran which links with the
lapack library...
