hello,

We just discovered a problem in some automated code, and basicly I think
that write_gif might occasionally being writing messed up gif files.
(read_gif, and the unix app xv both have problems reading them)

has anyone discovered any problems, seemingly occasional sporadic
error that result in the idl error something like the following when
using read_gif:
%decode_gif: Gif file is curropted

with something like this?

-thanks in advance

We use IDL to generate animation sequences of upto 200 frames with gif
as out-
put file format.
We discovered the same occasional sporadic error as described above.
To give you a statistic: of 100 files, ~1-3 are corrupted.
The error occurs preferebly at larger filesizes (>500 kb) and can't be
repro-
duced.
