I am having trouble figuring out the best way to display some data
using IDL. I have a few tens of data triplets, each triplet being the
x & y cartesian coordinate, and z being the value at that data point.
I wish to display these data, mostly to determine what sort of
function would be best fit to these data. However, I cannot seem to
find any way to display these that I like. I can of course TV the
800x800 image that the data triplets came from, but that does not work
very well to determine the functional fit, I can SURFACE and CONTOUR
the image, but that is unsatisfactory. I have read the IDL manual
several times, but am stumped.

Does any one have any sugguestions?
