I assume you mean a VAX running VMS? We have similar problems with
PV-Wave running on a VAXstation (VMS/DECwindows). We do mostly image
processing, and aside from limitations on image size, doing common
things like contouring a small (200x300) image runs into memory
problems which boosting pagefiles and quotas to inordinately large
sizes doesn't help.
I believe the combination of VMS and DECwindows makes for a bad platform
for the kinds of things that we, and probably you, do (at least for PV-Wave).
We're installing the test version of Point & Click on our Suns, to see if
that works any better for our purposes. I don't foresee us continuing to try
to use the VMS software much longer.
(Note to the PV Inc net.lurkers: we've already reported the problem, and
I'm not the person handling it, so *please* don't call me!)
