I have just ftp'd down the compressed files for ENVI from IDL's
University of Colorado ftp site. It seems pretty clear from the
text files that came with, that this is not ENVI for a windows
environment (I admit, I tried to get it to run under windows and
it didn't work). Does anyone know how I can get hold of ENVI for
windows, via ftp (or otherwise).

The Windows version of ENVI is not available via ftp at this time (no license
manager to handle temporary installation keys). However, an email message
to "envi@rsinc.com" or the general-purpose "info@rsinc.com" will get your
request to evaluate into the right hands. We currently can send diskettes and
in late July we plan to ship ENVI 1.1 on CD.
