Has anyone thought about a generic data viewer in IDL
for netcdf files?

Has anyone worked on establishing conventions for netcdf
files that would allow a generic viewer to work?

Any interest in this anywhere?

My particular problem is 3 and 4-D datasets of uniformly
gridded (model output) global data. Seems useful to solve
a class of problems rather than write quick and dirty IDL
programs the rest of my life....
