About using such a program I have no idea, but you might try the
freshmeat search engine (http://freshmeat.net/). A quick try with
'schedule' gave me a ton of answers like CyberScheduler or iOffice2000

Hi Reimar,

I don't fully understand your question. Are you looking for a
time-tracking program to keep track of the time you spend working on
different projects?

If it should be easy like IDL, do you want a command line interface (CLI)
program, or do you have X running, and a GUI time tracking program would
work?

these might help:
http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=time+track+project+spent
http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=time+track+different+project

-k.
