Hi,
We have been experiencing some problems with IDL creating and not
deleting some huge core files in /var/spool. The only limit to the size
of these files appears to be the free space on the partition, usually
about 40 MB.
A filled-up /var can create some really annoying problems. I would
like to know if anyone has had similar problems with IDL, and if so, what they
were able to do about it.
I have considered putting "limit coredumpsize 0" into everyone's
.login, but since the core files are owned by root and not the IDL user, I
don't think that this would do any good. Additionally, at least one of the
users has been doing some pretty outrageous stuff, like FFTing an entire
(big) image. I don't think IDL likes that. :-)
Thanks,
-Kevin Kluge
