The latest version of IDL (3.6) for OSF1, which we received about a week
ago, contains the netCDF libraries. The IDL netCDF library contains at
least one serious bug. We are having problems reading LONG arrays (it
seems to be some 32/64-bit confusion). We have have reported the problem
to RSI, and they have reproduced it, but they have not provided a patch or
work-around yet. I may be able to get around it myself, but I would
rather have a solution from them.
We haven't upgraded to 3.6 on our AIX machines yet, so I don't know if the
bug is restricted to the Alphas, or occurs on other platforms.
If you are under maintenance, you should be getting the 3.6 CD soon. You
can always check with RSI.
