In order to keep you informed of our situation, here is a status report on
our investigations into an intermediary solution for IDL on the Mac
platform:

- we are making progress in our investigation and will announce our
determination late this week or early next week. we are moving as fast as we
can.

- we are currently sorting through the following issues:
-- support for the AltiVec processing engine.
-- graphics performance.
-- the logistics of supplying X-Windows support and how to distribute the
X-11 server library.

- as soon as we have reached a conclusion, we will immediately publish an
announcement on this site. please stay tuned.
