I have some .SAV files that I created on a PC running IDL 5.4. I need
to open them on a Mac (running v5.4), but the Restore procedure won't
do it. I've heard that there are new features in the v5.4 .SAV format,
but I don't see why that should prevent cross-platform compatability,
since both are running the same version. If there is a fix for this
problem, I'd really like to know it.
Thanks,
Chris

You could try my own SAVE library for IDL, which is written in IDL
itself. It allows you to examine and restore IDL 5.4-produced files
on all versions of IDL, so you shouldn't have a problem.

Good luck,
