Hi,

in our institute we're going to buy some more IDL licenses soon, some
other institutes may do so as well.
Unfortunately the prices (especially for maintenance!) are way above
most educational/scientific institute can afford. If the threshold prices
for university-wide solutions (a larger number of licenses for a better price)
are so high that even a whole university can't get enough people together to join
the contract, something must be wrong.

Has anybody (eg. in the US) made similar experience and found a better
way out than forget about it and pay whatever they want?
