It is interesting that you mention this. I was
poking around in my directories tonight, looking
for examples of one thing or another that I might
be able to turn into more formal example programs. I
came across a program I wrote years and years ago, and
I thought it would make an excellent entry in
a "Goofiest Program You Ever Wrote" contest.
I offer it here as maybe the strangest program
I ever wrote. At least, the strangest program
I ever wrote when I wasn't drinking too much beer. :-)
It's called Railroad. You can find it here:
ftp://ftp.dfanning.com/pub/dfanning/outgoing/misc/railroad.p ro
I'll bet I get more e-mail about this than I
ever got about PSConfig. :-)
Cheers,
David

Actually, I think I *do* know how to do
this. Let's see, 10 lines of code, times
3 hours per line, times six swear words
per punctuation mark ...
Yes, I could have it done by next week sometime. :-)
Cheers,
David

David - works great, after I added the obligatory
device,decomposed=0 line....
You DEFINITELY have too much time on your hands - now that your
book is on sale, you should be inspired to get back to work on
that long-overdue Objects book. Or, rather, would you rewrite
the railroad program in object graphics on a 3-D textured
trackball map of the USA with proper perspective and color of
vegetation along the route? Be sure to use the new 5.5 pop-up
menus (anyone tried these yet?) as a user feature? We'll give
you an extra day, considering the Thursday is Thanksgiving.
I'll check back on Friday.
