Has anyone converted MatLab and/or IDL-routines to the multi-platform
open-source code SciLab, particularly on the Mac? Is SciLab a possible
alternative to MatLab 6.x or IDL for the Mac? Being a biologist rather
than a programmer, but responsible for a lab environment, I would like
to get an idea about the feasability of changing - is it possible to
give some form of estimate about the "overlap" between the progs?

(Get the "beta" Mac-version of SciLab at:
ftp://ftp.inria.fr/INRIA/Projects/Meta2/Scilab/contrib/Mac/)

Regards

/Erik

Dear Erik and NG,

unfortunately I cannot give you further information w.r.t to these
issues. I rather would like to emphasize how helpful such ports would
be also for me and my group (see posting a few weeks ago with the
subject "idl pricing").

Best wishes

Marco
