Hi All,
I am in the process of chosing a file format for storing Level 3
remote-sensing images, and I would like to use IDL to create those
images. The grid that is commonly used in that case uses a sinusoidal
equal-area projection (e.g. SeaWIFS and I believe MODIS L3 also ... but
not sure :-(().
I am currently exploring the HDF-EOS. On page 1-7 in the following
document:
HDF-EOS Library Users Guide for the ECS Project Volume 2 Function
Reference Guide
I can read
"The Intergerizedd sinusoidal projection is not part of the original
GCTP package. It has been added by ECS."
and in the IDL documentation I don't see any reference to that
projection.
Since the sinusoidal grid is considered to be best grid for storing L3
image data, and also since the SeaWIFS project has been producing L3
images for several years already, I would be very much surprised that
the IDL HDF-EOS routines don't support that projection. Therefore, I am
very optimistic and hope that the sinusoidal grid is supported ... but
not properly documented. Could anybody tell me if I'm right? .... or
wrong :-(((?
By advance thanks,
Vincent Fournier-Sicre
