A question, posted on behalf of a coworker. She has a 2D dataset whose
indices are (r, theta) instead of (x,y). She would like to display a
grayscale 2d intensity plot in the manner of tv, but of course that
doesn't work for her current polar dataset. I told her she would have to
re-bin and resample the data onto (x,y), taking into account the fact
that pixels aren't uniformly sized in (r,theta) space, which is doable
if annoying... It seems to me that someone out there must have written
the code to do this already, or possibly there's a slick IDL way to do
this using some function or feature I haven't yet encountered. Enlighten
this poor young astronomer, O sages of the internet. ;-)
