You can also just copy/create a license.dat file on the MS Windows
machine. Normally someplace like C:\RSI\license\license.dat.
I usually put in a "generic" license on my clients, pointing to
the server.

Normally you only have to set an environment var like
export LM_LICENSE_FILE=1700@your.license.server
(on the windows system is it somewhere in workplace)
on the machine were you like to use the idl license.

Mark,
How did you go about setting up IDL on the Windows machine to look at the
Linux license manager? Will I need to have RSI generate a new license.dat
file?

Yes, it works fine. We run a Linux IDL license server, and licenses are
served to Unix, Linux and Windows machines.
