Hi Bob,

Here's a possible alternative. Use an existing IDL medical image
viewer like MRIVIEW. See the link below.

As an IDL user, and owner of my very own Brain Tumour, I acquired
MRIVIEW from the author, Doug Ranken, at LANL.

I've only got a SAVE file version that I can't alter, but as a
student/researcher you may get the code and all.

If that's not an option for you, then I second David Fanning's
advice to display all 9 draw widgets all the time, regardless of
whether there's an image in them.

Also, Australia offers "iBrain" at http://www.brain.org.au/iBrain/
which is an fMRI IDL package.

Alternatively, a non-IDL MRI viewer called MRIcro can be obtained
from www.psychology.nottingham.ac.ul/staff/cr1/mricro.html
