For KDE konsole

right click and select Keyboard->Linux console. If you want to always
have this, then Save Settings.

xterm and gnome-terminal don't have the same problem. Maybe on your other
system you are using Gnome as the desktop?

Hi,

here is the solution for Suse, may be work by RH too.

make a new window
Select "Einstellungen" (may be control ?)
then select "Tastatur" (may be keyboard)
then select "linux console"

Don't forget to save below "Einstellungen" in the first menu too.
