Hi Eric,
Your problem might be related to IDL v5.3. Here's part of a reply
from RSI Tech Support in response to a PS Prolog bug that we
identified back in 2000. Seems v5.3 had a few quirky bugs in
producing PS output. Certainly the PS output we produced in v5.4 Beta
could be viewed OK in some PS viewers, but not in others.
You might want to try IDL v5.4 or v5.5 if you can source it.
