Is there any way to use the FORMAT keyword (as used in PRINTF() and STRING() ) to force printed output to contain a sign.

If
a = 12.3
Then I want the print to produce
"+ 12.3"

and a = -12.3 should give me "- 12.3"

In reading the documentation on format codes, I could not find any reference to sign at all, but I have the feeling I am
missing something obvious.
