I had luck with the x,y error bars program, so I thought I would try again -

Has anyone written a program to draw lines with arrows on each segment to
indicate the order of the points on a scatterplot? I'm plotting lots of
scatterplots where the order of the points (e.g. looking at tweedledum vs.
tweedledee progressing with time) is interesting, but simply connecting with
lines doesn't tell you the direction (and it usually gets pretty jumbled
and non-obvious).

I guess one would calculate the slopes of every segment connecting the
points and then plot little scaled lines 45 deg. away from the segment and
fill up the arrowheads, but it seems like an arduous task for a neophyte
like me, so...
