Also, anyone have a detailed list of "What's New in 5.6" - ie. which
specific linear algebra algorithms have been LAPACKed (or de-Numerical
Recipied)?

On the main IDL web page, on the right hand side is the "Downloads"
button. Follow that to the IDL download page and fill out the form.
