have you ever tried to read 12 bit data in IDL? I have always avoided
this situation, telling people to save 12 bit data as a 16 bit int.
Unfortunately, I am in a situation now where I have to read 12 bit data
fields. I know I can probably brute force it by reading byte by byte,
and then doing some math. I just don't want to go there if I don't have
to. If you happen to have written something to read 12 bit data fields,
I would greatly appreciate it.
