Folks,

Did you see what the elves brought us this Christmas!?

In IDL 5.6 Windows version you can grab a piece of
code out of a window and paste the whole darn thing
at the IDL command line! Hooray!!!

Productivity at my place has just gone up 178%.

Cheers,

David

P.S. If somebody opens their mouth and says they
have been able to do this with their IDLWAVE emacs
mode since 1986 I am going to scream. :-(

Another *MOST* useful feature! of IDL 5.6 (Windows) seems to be that
offsets returned by events from TEXT_WIDGETS do NOT differ anymore to
Unix. (This LF<->CR+LF problem).
Becomes Unix the unifying standard?

Still I am waiting for an IDL (Windows) behavior allowing full featured
emacs use...

Huh, should've tried a Mac. *That* has always been in. So if it gave you
the 178% productivity increase, even the fact that Macs are no longer
natively supported would have been a small price to pay :-)
Cheers,
Pavel
