Folks,
I am working on an article about labeling minor tick
marks on log axes (sigh...) and I am running across
references to a program "exponent.pro", supposedly
written by Stein Vidar. Does anyone have this program?

P.S. Let's just say if anyone has developed anything
better than Martin Schultz's AXLABEL and LOGLEVELS routines,
I like to hear about it. :-)

This is what should be done with about 90% of all "search this site"
engines. The only ones that tend to do better than google are the ones
that deal with a structured data base (e.g. look up & compare prices, etc).

I do this all the time. A little suspicious that trying once more to
locate the routine didn't trigger a recall of the previous search result,
though?

Oh, right. This is funny, because it was suggested to me
several weeks ago that I could find it on my web page.
So I went searching for it. I got so annoyed with the
search engine I had there (I was searching a lot of
documents and not finding what I was looking for) that
I replaced the search engine with a Google search engine.
Then I forgot to go looking for the thing I was looking
for in the first place!
Sigh... I hear they are making great progress on the
Alzheimer's front. I hope so. :-(

Now, David! I don't know about AXLABEL and LOGLEVELS, but after trying in vain
to find the exponent.pro routine in my own path, google helpfully points me to

It says "Last Updated 4 March 1999" so I guess it's forgiveable (any program
from last millennium is outdated?), but it's kind of funny anyhow. And yes,
certain stylistic features indicate that I am indeed the author ("my
