I'm a bit flummoxed by an error given by IDL -
without going into too much detail of the source I'm calling a function
with no arguments and the following happens:
% Expression must be a scalar in this context: <BYTE Array[1]>.
% Execution halted at: EVAL_FIT_S 202 /home/eme/programs/main.idl
% MAKE_FIT_ARRAY_S 311 /home/eme/programs/main.idl
.... and lots of similar lines

Bit bemused because it happens under IDL 5.4 on an Alpha, but runs fine on
IDL 5.5a on Linux.

Any suggestions or hints?

Thanks,
