I was browsing the new Programming Tips articles on David's web site
(www.dfanning.com, if anyone is still unfamiliar with this fantastic
resource) recently, and I was delighted to see my name! ("Storing
Associated File Variables") Referenced on David Fanning's web site!
Wow! *Ego meter rises*
Ummm, well, almost my name. Ahem. It's GUERBER, G, U, E, R, B, E, R.
No, no: g U E R b e r. No, not R U E, U E R. No, U E. There, that's it.
GUERBER. Right! That's what I said.
(Sorry, it's just that I'm continually amazed how I can actually spell
out my name for people, and they still get it wrong. The curse of an
unusual name. The previous paragraph is a pretty typical conversation!)
</rant>
Personally, I'd add, just in case someone reading the article doesn't
see _how_ to store an associated variable "in an pointer", that the
assignment then becomes:
self.sonarData = ptr_new( assoc( 1, uintarr(samples) ) )
Anyway, thanks David!

Hm. I don't know what you're talking about.
I never have to spell out my name. I simply write it down for them
because there isn't a chance in the world they'll get it right. Those
latin-based alphabets, they affect the minds of their native speakers...
Cheers,
Pavel
