OPENW and environment variables in IDL 5.5 [message #33894] Tue, 04 February 2003 10:56

Has anyone noticed odd behavior in IDL 5.5 (IRIX 6.5) when opening a file
with an environment variable in the argument? For example:

IDL> openw, lun, '$HOME/test.dat', /get_lun
% OPENW: Unable to expand wildcards in file path.
% Execution halted at: $MAIN$

This command works just fine in IDL 5.3

Cheers,
Liam.
