Hallo!
Currently I am writing a greater widget application to scan
big 5D - Datasets (what means x,y,z,time, specie. Dataset have
uo to a few 100 MB).
What we need is a IDL - Routine to look from inside a Dataset
to outside. We want to fly through the 3D - Space of a given
5D - dataset at a given time and for a choosen specie.
I want to navigate with the mouse-buttons (in three space
directions, zooming in/out, forward, backward driving, stop
at a given point and changing the dataset in time or look at
this position for a different specie).
I know tools like cw_arcball and cw_orient, but they work only
from 'outside' a dataset. How can I sit inside a dataset and
look outside? Do I need a special hardware to realize it (like
a grpahic accelerator, 24bit graphic with z-buffer) or another
platform? We use mainly SUN-Sparc 10 with SunOs 4.1.x and one
Sparc 10/52 with Solaris 2.3. Our IDL-Releases are 3.1.1 and
3.6.1 on SUN and 3.5.1 on PC.
Does anyone outside in this big IDL - world use IDL-RPC, too?
We want to learn how to use it, but we have no experience and
no example files. If somebody like to share his example files
please mail to ao@eurad.uni-koeln.de
Thanks
