How to make a video from animations [message #3414]

Hi:

I have a question regarding capturing video from idl data. i have
created animation program which can show the animation on screen. I
want to capture the animation on a regular videotape. Is there any special
way to do it? I can of course take a video camera, and record the
animation from the screen, but I would like to know if there is any
other sophisticated way to do this.

I used about the simplest and cheapest scheme to get animations
on to a tape.

Needed

A VCR that can be controlled from a serial Port. (A lot of biologists
use this).
A Macintosh a) either an AV capable of outputting TV signals
or
b) A one of the things that convert VGA signals to TV signals
(cost about $200-300)
