IDL causes color table flashing on SGI with Irix 6.0.1 [message #3470]

Hey folks,

I will shortly be purchasing an IDL license for a new Indigo R8000
system running Irix 6.0.1. I have verified that the demo version
works correctly (RSI had not tested it on 6.0.1 last time I checked),
however there is one small glitch.

The images displayed in the demo look quite normal *until* the cursor
is moved inside the draw window. At this point the color table for the
whole screen abruptly changes, and then changes back to the original
table when the cursor is removed from the draw window. I have seen this
happen before on a PC running an X server, but never on a Unix box.

By the way my Indigo has 24 bit graphics, but the problem occurs
whether I use the 8 bit or 24 bit X visual. It also occurs regardless
of whether Indigo Magic is running or disabled.

Any hints on how to get around this?
