Does anybody know how to set the X windows defaults under Linux using Gnome? I
tried creating the file ~/.Xdefaults, but it doesn't appear to be paid
attention to (except via "xrdb -merge").

P.S. The manual discusses settings for idl.retain and idl.gr_visual, but
it doesn't look like there's anything equivalent to DEVICE,DECOMPOSED=0. Is
that right?
