Hello,

I am working on a project analyzing water temperature data from
satellite imagery. I am trying to fit a smoothing spline to a time
series of water temperature. Unfortunately, IDL's the procedures are
not as nice and automatic as the R function smooth.spline (although
more general). I have an understanding of how the spline is fit
through certain y-values (using a function like SPLINE or SPL_INTERP),
but I don't understand how the y-values are chosen. Can you tell me
how I can choose these y-values?

Thanks a lot,

Jarrod Dalton
