Actually you can control the colors used. The menu is pretty well
hidden but it is there. Downside is it is set for each DTM. This may
be a new feature:

o load a DEM
o right click DEM - Display Paramter Elevation
o right click DEM - Elevation colors - colors - colors from table

The Elevation Tbale button allows you to specifiy which .dbf file to
use to store the elevation ranges and RGB values. Copy the existing
ELEVATION_COLORS.dbf then edit using Excel or a DBase tool of your
choice to make your own ranges. Other features of MicroDEM may allow
you to manage the table if you don't have another tool.

Off the Help menu is a link to a forum supporting MicroDEM. Lots of
help there if you cannot figure it out.

Its probably more than you want but you can do this with RockWorks or
Surfer. Either one will let you define your own color table and export
as a raster image.

Thanks for answer! I tried that before, but you have not color index of
image which
can be used for height interpolation.

Again to this issue:

just downloaded MicroDEM 7.0 alpha, it is the same. Even I can now use the
original ELEV_COLORS.bdf but it gives the gray image with only one value,
wrong did or bug?

regards!

Thanks lot for answer!
So I tried again the follows:

- edit and save ELEV_COLORS.dbf (import and export with MS Access) for my
color definitions
- load DEM and save the image - it looks really gray value for the whole DEM
- open the image with other program, and it is only one value (115, 115,
115)

I use "MicroDEM/TBII, ver14.29.13.3 August 2002" on my Windows -NT4.0

regards!
