The difference in structure between IDL and C++ are too great for any
large amount of automatic conversion between them. I'm not personally
aware of any such converter. However, I'm willing to predict that if one
does exist, it would convert good IDL code into bad C++ code. You need a
highly skilled human being to make such a conversion efficiently. Such
people are correspondingly expensive. That's all that Paul was trying to
tell you - he just took a humorous approach to saying it.
It didn't sound to me like he was proposing to contract this task. The
form of your question suggested that you were unaware of how complicated
this would be, and therefore how expensive, so I suspect he wasn't sure
whether you'd really be interested in hiring such a consultant. Most
people competent to take on this task are already very busy, with little
need to drum up business. Still, it couldn't hurt to ask.

(Sigh)
I really have to brush up on my writing skills to avoid the curmudgeon factor propagation in my flippant
replies.

It was a serious posting and am unsure as you are propsing to contract
this task - I didn't think that this is a job related forum - Sorry,
van, but we need some ethics.

Yes there is. They are called software consultants -- but I think if you refer to them as a "Utility" they may
raise their hourly rates just for you ... :o)
