From downloads off the RSI site you just run the unpack script which
uncompresses/extracts the gzipped tar files and then installs IDL. No need
for X, no fancy widgety-clickety things at all.

(P.S. since I don't actually have an IDL 6.0 CD yet, I can't say whether
it's possible from the CD).
