After changing the "Graphics attributes" to "Software rendering",
I have run again the simple ICONTOUR example. This does not seem
to correct the problem since the window error still pop-ups.

I will keep investigating and see.

Other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Andry

Alright then. I think the problem lies in your graphics
card. Start IDL up again. Go to the Preferences->Graphics
tab in the IDLDE, and select "Software" rendering. Now
have a go. If this works correctly, you are going to
have to update your graphics driver.

Cheers,

David

On second thought, forget about this. My gosh, that
program is *ancient*. Maybe I'll spend some time on
it myself. :-(

Cheers,

David

By the way, I forgot to say that I am using IDL 6.0 on a
Red Hat 8.0 linux with 128 Mb of RAM (a 650 MHz CPU). I
don't know if this has to do with the error but in case
it can help trace the origin of the error.

I have exited and restarted IDL but the error still gets
there. Another thing is that at some stage, the ICONTOUR
gets stuck and nothing in IDL works. In order to do anything
I need to kill the IDL process and restart everything again.

Sure I will.

Thanks again.

I don't get this error, nor would I expect to.
Have you tried exiting and restarting IDL? I
suspect something else is wrong.

No, it is not possible. It *is* possible, however, to write
something much simpler than iContour which will give you
the kind of contouring you need. A good place to start,
for example, is with XContour, and old, but still serviceable,
program:

And if you manage to give it a fresh look, let me know. :-)

Cheers,

David
