I wish there was a way to determine where the axis title
was positioned, but I've never discovered it. I've always
thought the Y axis should be positioned with the same relative
gap as exists with the X axis title and its associated annotation.
The Y gap seems too close to me.

P.S. Let's just say this is one of those things that bug
me about IDL that everyone else seems to be indifferent
to. I've always wondered what that said about me. :-(
