You can reproject the data into other projections. There are a few
tools at the HDF-EOS tools and information center
(http://hdfeos.gsfc.nasa.gov/). Also, there is a calculator on the
internet which can translate pixel coordiantes into Lat/Lon digits, or
vice versa.
