I have noticed that setting the /COMPRESS keyword when SAVEing routines in
IDL 5.6-6.0 yields little compression.

This is a far cry from previous versions. For a particular case:

5.5 uncompressed: 431kb
5.5 compressed: 34kb
5.6 uncompressed: 432kb
5.6 compressed: 431kb
6.0 uncompressed: 440kb
6.0 compressed: 439kb

Where did all the compression go? Has anyone seen this when saving
variables?
