My work involves looking at meteorological data sets. I tend to
spend quite a lot of time getting a plot looking the way I want
(contour levels, colours, title, axes etc), and then doing exactly
the same thing many times over.

We have recently upgraded to IDL 6, and icontour looks like it
might make it easier to get the plot looking how I want. However,
I haven't found a way to store this "format" in a way such that I
can do the same thing many times over with different data sets.

A while ago someone from RSI came out to "show-off" IDL 6 (before
it was released), he didn't know a way to do what I am asking.

I hope this question makes sense, and can anyone help me?
