Embedding IDL in Java [message #38067] Fri, 13 February 2004 08:30

I've been working with the IDL-Java Bridge to use Java objects in IDL,
but is it possible to go the other direction -- call IDL procedures and
functions from Java? The only way I can think of to do such a thing is
to go the callable IDL route to C and then use Java JNI to communicate
with C. Is there an easier way?

Basically, we already have a lot of Java code written and it would be
nice to call an IDL routine here or there to do number crunching or
plotting. Of course, we can make Java spawn a new IDL process for the
specific task, but that can get a little ugly, especially in a large
project. Any ideas?
