Dear all
While the good "dongle" isn't available with idl6.0 we thought to use a
pcmcia network card for traveling one IDL license to different
notebooks. The card is moved to the notebook which should get the license.
We got different results for windows and linux.
on windows:
lmhostid compares every available network mac address with the license
information. The notebook with the additional network card is able to
use the idl license defined to this pcmcia card
on linux:
lmhostid queries always only the first ethernet card (eth0). The others
are ignored.
I hope someone has an excellent idea how to get the lmhostid querying an
other network card too. Or is this a bug?
best regards
Reimar

good news I hope CREASO could do the same. But it does not solve the
problem.

Actually not true, the personal licsence can be mixed between two OSs.
How do I know?? well my collegue harassed RSI and then he got a
personal license to work both in windows and linux. Practically
speaking he doesn't switch too much between the two, but it's still
nice to have.

Dear Robert
The personal license is only useful if you have yourself more as one
machine and noone of your colleagues are using this machines too. It's
only a personal license for the owner not for a different user on the
same machine.
The personal license is only for windows or only for linux. This can't
be mixed.

I cannot answer your specific question, but I was wondering if you have
considered using the new Personal Use license which allows you to
install and use IDL on multiple machines?
