I want to create a widget similar to the output log for VM operation.

1. How do I access the label widget ID from the main-level program
(there are no events)?

2. How can I update the contents of the label widget while retaining
all that has been written there previously?

On an unrelated topic, I have implemented the CW_DEFROI compound
widget in another application, but when called it is always partially
or entirely obscured by the large top-level base. Can I bring it to
the front?
